REUSEABLE project highlighted in the Danish national budget
We are pleased that our project, “REUSEABLE,” has been highlighted as a source of inspiration in the new national budget.
In collaboration with TOMRA, the festival implemented the same platform for reusable cups used otherwise in central Aarhus: REUSEABLE. This system provides a simple way to reduce litter by providing consumers with a convenient way to return the reusable cups to automated machines and receive a refund for the deposit on the cups.
To accommodate the festival attendees, TOMRA, in collaboration with Aarhus Events, placed 12 automated return machines at five different locations at the festival. And during the two days, over 42,000 cups were returned by festival-goers!
"SPOT’s new collaboration with TOMRA is a step towards increased recyclability at the festival site. As a city-based festival, it makes sense to take advantage of the fact that many people are already familiar with the REUSEABLE system and machines from their daily routines around town, and we found that the audience responded very positively to the new initiative. So we see it as a successful solution that we will continue to develop for next year’s SPOT," says Rikke Andersen, CEO, Head of SPOT.
